With MICHAEL E. VERMETTE 5 SATURDAY WORKSHOP CLASSES FROM SEPTEMBER 10TH TO OCTOBER 1ST , 2016.
If you have ever wanted to learn how to paint oils outside and on location, this workshop is for you! Designed for the true blue beginner and more advanced painter alike, this painting workshop will emphasize 5 bold compositional approaches that will effectively assist students in painting oils en plein air. On the first class we will go over materials, make sub straights (highly prized oil painting surfaces), and also cover how to present the work for display. The following weeks we will meet on location in 4 beautiful landscape areas around beautiful Bucksport, Maine. The class format will begin with a two to three-hour block of time for painting each week followed up by a group critique at The Lighthouse Gallery Arts Center. Here the student can have an opportunity to talk about their paintings in a supportive environment while learning about color, light, value, and creating distance in their paintings. The emphasis will be on learning a bold approach that will produce a reasonable facsimile of the subject from direct observation. This workshop will also give insight through demonstrations by the instructor and visual presentations of oil painting in plein air that have elevated plein air painting to what it is today. These presentations reveal 5 motivational keys intended to provide the student with a solid spiritual base to build their own painting experiences upon. This course is perfect for the student who is a beginner or more advanced student who wants to learn more about these versatile mediums that are perfectly suited for outdoor painting. It is also an excellent workshop that will get you ready to paint in plein air all year long! |
